Is this supposed to be the revelation of Chris' life dreams? The dark red color seems to suggest that there's something missing in life (and in the picture). Could it be alcohol?

Or perhaps, that life is a game (much like checkers). However, I'm not sure what it signifies that the glass is straddling a corner. Perhaps he doesn't want to be a part of the game.

And I agree, he needs a refill.

I like where you're going with this, Jen

And could it be that this author wants to be in the middle of the game? That he wants to witness all this red-hot action around him but doesn't want to partake. Or that he just wants lots of attention from those puny-minded checkers...

And maybe the martini glass is empty so that he can sit inside of it and watch from within the safety of the massive glass. (By the way, this kind of reminds me of "Through the Looking Glass").

Or is it supposed to allude the fragility of life and of love and of stuff made from glass?

Or is it made of glass at all, or of some glass-looking plastic? Cause then it would represent the shallowness of human experience, again returning to the whole game idea...where love and heartbreak are somehow above the game?
